The “UK Social Network User Trends: Social Is the New Normal” report also once again confirms the idea that social media users are usually younger, aged between 12-44.
The research also reveals that the only age group to not reach 50% penetration by the end of 2017 will be adults 65 and over.
Women lead the genders in their social media addiction, with 54% of female social network users in the UK currently making use of social media at least once a day, compared with 46% of males.
Marketers and business experts capitalising on the social media phenomenon will be sure to try and influence the 16.9 million women reported to be active on social media by the end of this year.
