Lyons takes over from Winkler at the technology giant.
Technology giant HP has named 26-year company veteran Cathy Lyons to take over as chief marketing officer and executive vice president.
Lyons will head up the company’s worldwide branding efforts, which includes corporate communications, internal communications, brand strategy and advertising — including interactive. In April, HP ranked fifth in spending among interactive advertisers, according to TNS Media Intelligence.
The new CMO assumes the responsibilities from Mike Winkler, who will continue in his other role — as EVP of HP’s Customer Solutions Group. Winkler has held the CMO position since December 2002.
Most recently, Lyons was SVP of Business Imaging and Printing with the Imaging and Personal Systems Group (IPSG). Before that, she was VP and general manager of the company’s Supplies business. In her new role, she’ll report to CEO and president Mark Hurd and will join HP’s executive council.
The company hasn’t yet named someone to replace Lyons in her IPSG gig.
HP’s lead corporate branding agency is Goodby Silverstein & Partners.
