This week, tech giant Huawei announced a 36% increase in smartphone sales for the first half of the year. The company’s overall revenue has grown 30% to £18.2bn, making it a serious competitor to Apple for the top spot in China.
The company shipped 48.2 million devices globally in the first half of 2015, which makes an 87% surge in handset sales revenues. Shipments for the mid-to-high-end category recorded a year-on-year increase of 70%.
The firm managed to defy a slowdown hitting its rivals Samsung and Xiaomi in China.
