Katie Price reveals secret behind her personal brand

One may not consider brand Price a humble beast, but when it comes to business, Price, who is worth a reported £30m, advised people to be realistic about what they can achieve when starting out.

Being realistic, authentic and admitting you’re not perfect is the secret of Katie Price’s unique personal brand success, revealed the former glamour model at AdWeek Europe today.

In the online world we’re all essentially brands. Our social accounts not only act as a connective online sinew to our bustling personal network’s; tools such as Facebook, blog’s, Twitter or LinkedIn all contribute to our own, small slice of brand pie.

Adweek Europe hosted an event called ‘Brand You’, inviting three self-made entrepreneurs to share how they fertilised, grew and maintained their personal brands. Here’s what Ms. Price had to say.

Be realistic:

One may not consider brand Price a humble beast, but when it comes to business, Price, who is worth a reported £30m, advised people to be realistic about what they can achieve when starting out.

She said: “Start small, be realistic and grow from there.”

Price sticks this philosophy across her business forehead, and applies it when looking to grow a product.

Be good with money:

Price, formally Jordan, said that she uses her earnings to make more money.

She said: “Always put [the] money [you make] in the pot, don’t take it out. Keep it in there and grow it, then you can start another business.”

She also urged companies to “stay above board” and pay taxes and such like.

Be you:

Price, who won Celebrity Big Brother this year, has been hailed as one of the most authentic and real celebrities to ever grace the show. She recommends applying a sense of authenticity to any brand in order to succeed.

Be knocked down:

Feeling the lows, as well as the highs is important says Price, because “you have to know what it feels like”.

Price called upon her own famous knockback.

She said: “We all do things that aren’t right. Eurovision was the one for me. I couldn’t sing that song then I still couldn’t sing it now. I believe you’ve got to do things wrong. Nobody is perfect.”

Be competitive:

There’s nothing wrong with competition, said Price, “it’s healthy to have competition because it makes you more driven.”
