Media Contacts Buys Into French SEM

The acquisition of Iando and its small staff brings the Havas unit a number of e-European commerce clients.

French search marketing firm Iando has been acquired by Media Contacts, the digital arm of Havas’ Media Planning Group (MPG).

With the purchase, Media Contacts adds e-commerce clients like Aquarelle, CDiscount and Chateau Online to a roster that already includes Nike, Air France and Expedia.

Iando was founded in 2000 by Andres Menajovsky. The company has a staff of approximately six, all of whom are moving to Media Contacts’ offices in Paris. The companies did not share other details of the transaction.

Ester Pascual, director of marketing for Media Contacts Global, said the company is in an expansion mode in three continents. “People [in the U.S.] don’t know we’re quite strong in Europe and Latin America,” she said.
