A massive surge in mobile advertising on the social media site is being celebrated as one of the main reasons behind Facebook’s impressive 55% year-on-year revenue growth.
Q4 2013 saw Zuckerberg’s site record a record 556 million Mobile DAUs (daily active users), an increase of 49% year-over-year, a figure that will be music to the ears of all advertisers currently running campaigns on the site and led to Zuckerberg to firmly announced that “Today there’s no argument, Facebook is a mobile company.”
The growth in mobile advertising had much to do with the 76% increase in advertising revenue recorded from the same quarter last year, representing approximately 53% of the figure, up from approximately 23% 12 months ago.
As it enters its 10th year of existence, Facebook has found ways to make the most out of its colossal number of users, monetising them through advertising, the development of apps, and ensuring the site stays constantly relevant for audiences and attractive for brands.
