Oner Active Opens Its First Store in NYC This Weekend
Oner Active opens its first store on Saturday, Nov. 7, a 4,700 sq ft space at 0 Bond Street in New York’s NoHo neighborhood. The UK-born brand was founded by Krissy Cela in 2020 and has no stores in the UK. Oner says the opening takes “its online community offline.” The choices behind it show how a brand can use its own customer data to place a store and read its results.
The location follows the brand’s own numbers. Cela said in an Instagram post that the US is Oner’s biggest market, and that “NYC, being our biggest city, it made sense.” Oner signed a 10-year lease on 0 Bond Street in May.
Those same numbers give the store a baseline. Comparing city-level online sales before and after the opening would show what the store adds.
The brand had already gathered its community in the city. It launched the Oner Walk Club there and held a two-day showroom pop-up nearly a year before the lease.
Oner extended that in-person approach to the street on Monday, Oct. 26, with a Moving Day activation before the doors opened. Led by Cela, a crew of movers carried supersized versions of the brand’s best-known staples through Manhattan. The load included a 4ft water bottle, 33lb mannequins and a 5ft ONER shopping bag. The route took in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Canal Street and the subway.
Routing the props past places people already know ties the brand to the city before the store exists. Opening day adds a live DJ set and “special moments for the ONER community.” The store itself then gives those visitors a few concrete things to do.
Customers can book a one-on-one fit session online, where product experts give personalized style advice. Visitors can also shop NY SEEN, an in-store-only lifestyle capsule designed in homage to New York. The space has a photobooth, custom mannequins in three body types and a signature scent made in Florence.
The capsule and the bookings each leave a trail. A NY SEEN purchase points to a store visit, and a booking records interest before anyone walks in.
