PopShack adds tech veteran Michael Tobin to board

Tech entrepreneur and investor Michael Tobin has joined Popshack, a social music network that connects brands with pop music fans, as executive director.
Until last October Tobin led data centre provider TeleCity Group PLC, where he oversaw development of the company into a data centre business worth more than £1.5bn. He was awarded an OBE for services to the digital economy in 2014.
Tobin, who has also made an investment in PopShack, joins the board alongside ex-MTV boss Bill Roedy, who started with the company earlier this year, and Stewart Easterbrook, who formerly as CEO at communications company Starcome MediaVest.
He said of his appointment: “I am extremely excited to be involved in Popshack which I believe brings together a fantastic team and a brilliant business model, and look forward to sharing in its future success.”
PopShack’s CEO Conrad Withey said: “We are delighted that Michael has joined our board. His insight across telecoms and technology is a huge asset for us in ensuring we are at the forefront of the digital economy.”
PopShack is building a global network of YouTube artists that connect innovative brands with an engaged fanbase aged 13 to 24. Its network of 140 artists reaches 18 million active YouTube subscribers and 25 million people across other social networks.
