Snapchat’s chief executive has snapped after his future business plans were leaked via the on-going Sony Pictures hack.
The perishable photo app’s acquisitions and business plans were leaked onto the web – leaving chief executive Evan Spiegel feeling “violated and exposed” and in need of a “huge hug”.
Spiegel wrote: “I’ve been feeling a lot of things since our business plans were made public last night. Definitely angry. Definitely devastated. I felt like I was going to cry all morning, so I went on a walk and thought through a couple of things. I even ran into one of my high school design teachers. She gave me a huge hug. I really needed it.”
Spiegel noted that secrecy was of paramount importance to a company like Snapchat, and the story has further stoked a fierce debate on whether the media should report on information obtained illegally.
