According to new research conducted by Nielsen, 56% of SMEs believe that their use of Twitter helps drive website traffic, with 80% saying they would recommend the social media site to other SMEs looking to enhance their online presence.
Seeking the opinions of 100 SME employees in charge of their businesses social media accounts, the study found that generally small businesses see Twitter as both a beneficial and productive tool.
According to the data, 69% of those questioned said they saw Twitter as a valuable tool for business, with 72% saying they were satisfied with their use of the social media site, and 70% saying that utilising it was a productive use of company time.
An extremely cost-effective and easy way to start enhancing the online reputation of a company, Twitter use by SMEs is set to become even more popular in the future, with 68% of respondents saying they expect their investment with regards to time spent on Twitter to increase over the next year.
