According to new research from Microsoft Advertising, 30% of UK families are using devices such as smartphones and tablets to communicate with one another whilst within the family home.
The ‘Families‘ report, conducted by Sparkler, asked 1,5000 families about their tech habits, and revealed that instant messaging and video calls are being used in place of more traditional ways of communication within the household for issues such as asking for help with homework and so on.
The data showed that the average UK household contains 10 different devices, 57% of which are connected to the internet.
As well as this, 73% of those questioned said they often make use of a second screen whilst in the home, and use a separate smartphone, tablet or laptop while watching TV.
Marketers and advertisers are increasingly looking to target tech-savvy families, who are often ideal potential customers for many companies with solid digital marketing strategies in place.
