WeatherBug, the weather information services provider, appointed Michael Rosen to lead national ad sales as SVP of sales and marketing.
Andy Jedynak, WeatherBug SVP and general manager, says Rosen’s primary responsibility in the new position, “is to build a very strong household brand called WeatherBug and to bring that brand to the ad community. Michael has the executive acumen in marketing and brand building. We’re going to be rolling out new [ad] products this year, and we need someone who can introduce those and know what advertisers need now and in the future.”
Jedynak says this year, the company plans to double its national sales force, currently some 44 staffers. “We’ve gotten a much bigger reach in the past 12 months. We’re now number six according to comScore,” he added.
Partnerships with over 100 local broadcasters are a core part of WeatherBug’s offline strategy, a field in which Rosen has experience. At Bloomberg he oversaw ad sales for online, radio, print and TV. Earlier, he was director of marketing and business development for News Corporation’s News Digital Media Group, where he created Fox’s first online TV station strategy. He also worked at Showtime Networks in sales, marketing and interactive.
