Around two-fifths (38%) of online shoppers asked to register for an account will discard their purchase, suggests new research by Skrill.
The study which surveyed 2000 consumers further found that 32% of respondents would abandon a purchase if a website was asking for too much information, with a quarter of those citing security problems as the reason.
If faced with an unfamiliar payment method, 28% respondents admitted they would cancel an online transaction, a statistic which rose when the age range of those surveyed was refined to 18-24 year old’s – with 32% cutting off a transaction.
Buggy websites claimed 43% of cancelled transactions and respondents realising that a website was not UK-based also put off another 14%.
