Internet giant Yahoo! has announced on its blog the acquisition of Qwiki, a company which uses different types of media to tell a story, for a reported GBP50m.

This comes as part of Yahoo’s plans to move away from its search engine roots, as it has previously had a tough time getting attention from digital marketing experts and advertisers due to strong competition from sites such as Google and Facebook.

Yahoo! hopes to attract more advertisers as it delves into more social and mobile territory.
