The UK is home to one in every 10 ‘right to be forgotten’ requests, according to figures released by Google.
To date, a total of 498,737 links have been dissolved following action from the European Court of Justice in May.
Since the EU-ruling, 63,616 of these links have been deleted as a result of 18,304 requests by Britons.
Requests flooded in from a range of people, including doctors, clergymen and media professionals all seeking anonymity from outdated or embarrassing content.
Facebook was the target of many link removals with 3,353, followed by YouTube with 2,392.
