Marketers, you’re getting (expecting) a pay rise

Three-quarters of UK marketing professionals are expecting to land a pay rise this year, according to recruiter Robert Walters.
The confident new stats reveal that the majority imagine a modest boost – with over half expecting a rise of 6% or less, with only one in ten looking for more than 10%.
However, the survey of 872 marketing professionals reveals that bonus expectations are much grander – with 70% of plucky professionals expecting their employer to reward them with a bonus, including 40% who are looking for at least 6-15% of base salary.
The survey also found that marketers are increasingly optimistic about market conditions – with over a third looking for new opportunities, with 59% seeking to move within a year.
Tim Gilbert, Director of Marketing Recruitment at Robert Walters, said: “Improved business confidence in 2014 meant that firms began re-investing in their marketing teams. This year, we expect competition in the market to increase further as strong marketers become even more sought after.
“With many looking at a new job to make the step up, employers that do not benchmark pay and bonuses with market rates are at risk of losing key marketing staff.
“For those looking to recruit, many of the strongest candidates are likely to be entertaining multiple job offers, so it’s vital to address remuneration concerns at the interview stage.”
