Number of Spanish Users Rising

Almost 2.75 million Spaniards over age 14 now have Internet access, according to a survey by AIMC. Only 500,000 new Spanish users have logged onto the Net since August of 1998, the survey found, representing a growth rate of 0.9 percent.

The Spanish Internet Users Association (AUI) predicts that the number will rise to 8.74 million by 2001.

The Computer Industry Almanac estimated the Spanish online population to be 1.98 million at the end of 1998.
