The Caribbean – the area once widely referred to as the West Indies – is comprised of many island countries, dependencies and territories in the Caribbean Sea and is primarily known for tourism, not Internet accessibility.
Boasting more than 37 million citizens, the region only has an Internet penetration of roughly 3 percent, with Aruba ranking the highest at 34 percent. The next closest in Internet penetration, Puerto Rico, trails far behind at 15 percent.
