Korea's Online Population

Almost 10 Million Online in Korea

There are 15.34 million Internet users in Korea, according to the Korean Ministry of Information and Communication, up almost 1.5 million from the end of 1999.

One-quarter of Koreans now use the Internet at least occasionally. The increase in Internet access is largely due to the dramatic growth in PC ownership since the government began providing low-priced PCs to the public late last year.

Wireless Internet access also appears to have a bright future in Korea. The number of mobile phone users in Korea has risen to more than 27 million, and more Koreans now use mobile phones than traditional fixed phones.
