Holland's Online Population

More than 2.3 million, or 18.6 percent of the Dutch population go online at least once every two weeks, according to the Third National Internet Monitor, a report by research company Proactive and publisher Adformatie.

The study, based on a telephone survey carried out on 3,000 people in March 1999, also compared results with a previous survey conducted in October 1998. Back then, the percentage online in the Netherlands was only 15 percent.

The report also says that 4 percent of Dutch people said that they had bought something via the Internet.
