The number of active Internet users continued to climb in March 2006 in all countries except Germany and the U.K. Data tracked by Nielsen//NetRatings reports the number of active users in 10 countries worldwide.
Australia (2.77 percent increase); Italy (1.54 percent); Japan (3.43 percent); and the U.S. (2.63 percent) rebounded from usage declines experienced in February with an uptake of new active users in March.
After experiencing a 4.12 percent spike in new active users in February of this year, Germany saw a decline of less than 1 percent.
All told, the Web saw 6.7 million new active home Internet users in March, compared to the previous month.
Nielsen//NetRatings uses a sampling methodology applied worldwide, which allows for data aggregation on a regional and global basis.
