According to new data collected by the mobile experts at Millennial Media, Q3 2013 saw a number of sectors invest more and more in mobile ads, as companies quickly realise the benefits of spreading their brand’s message to the millions of consumers operating tablets and smartphones.
The investment made by many within the pharmaceuticals industry in mobile ad spending reportedly grew by a colossal 744% in the 12 months since it was last measured, with the news industry growing by 530%, consumers goods by 357%, entertainment by 264% and restaurants by 234%.
The study revealed that 34% of respondents plan to utilise mobile ad campaigns to drive consumers to their sites, with 22% aiming to use campaigns to enhance brand awareness.
As reported by IAB UK in December, companies are increasingly seeing mobile as their priority when it comes to advertising spend, and it looks like worldwide mobile ad spend is only set to grow in the coming years, with those at eMarketer estimating that 2014 will see another 62.1% growth on top of the 105.9% that occurred in 2013.
