Approximately 9.9 million Germans aged 14 to 59 had Internet access at the end of July, representing a 25 percent increase in six months, according to German consulting firm GkK.

Almost 9 million Germans have Internet access either at home or in work.

The heaviest German Internet users are 5.4 million users ages 20-39. Women account for 35 percent of German Internet users. Three million Germans bought or ordered a product over the Internet in the three months preceding the survey. Books, CDs, and software were among the most common purchases. The fastest growing e-commerce categories were travel, clothes, textiles, and sporting goods.
