#AskGudmundur: The human search engine

Iceland is hoping to attract would-be tourists to the country with Ask Guðmundur, its new human search engine which offers insider advice from residents in different regions.

When it comes to planning a trip, the first thing consumers do is Google flights, places to stay, and recommendations. There is no website in existence, however, that can give people the type of insider information an actual resident of that place could give. This was thinking behind Iceland’s new Ask Guðmundur service, consisting of volunteer representatives from each of the 7 regions of the country giving insider advice to tourists. Questions can be submitted via Facebook and Twitter using #AskGuðmundur.
