In a post entitled ‘One Million Thank Yous‘, Dan Levy, Director, Small Business at Facebook, has announced that Facebook currently has over 1 million active advertisers and businesses utilising its services in a bid to get their business and brand message out there.
Despite the recent controversy surrounding brands and misplaced adverts online, Facebook’s success in becoming a mainstream advertising channel for small and medium-sized businesses is unparalleled, and the proof is in the figures.
Facebook’s recent implementation of hashtags, a move that puts it in direct competition with Twitter, can be seen as a strategy to further increase real-time marketing revenue.
According to Forbes, local business Facebook Pages produce on average 645 million views and 13 million comments – quite a good investment overall, unless that attention is negative, which it can often be.
Commenting on the news in a statement, Carolyn Everson, Facebook VP global marketing solutions, said: “Businesses big and small are growing on Facebook and this is a very exciting milestone for us. Marketers can build personal relationships with their customers on the platform, at a scale which has never before been available.”
