Paddy Power is well known for treading the thin line of advertising acceptability, from a pruned Amazon rainforest, to a locked up traitor, and now – an ad parodying foreign-owned British football clubs.

The ‘New owner, new lease of life’ campaign shows how a new ‘Sheikh’ owner revamp his club’s kit.

Described as “breathable”, players trip over their Middle-Eastern styled attire – is the stunt a step too far, or marketing gold?

The betting company has also written a blog post exploring the five worst kits in footballing history to coincide with the campaign.
