New Social TARDIS campaign celebrates Doctor Who 50th anniversary

As if the mounting anticipation surrounding Doctor Who's 50th birthday needed a further injection of energy, the BBC has now unveiled a new outdoor 'Social TARDIS' digital campaign, where fans are encouraged to help build the TARDIS by sharing messages, pictures and videos via the #SaveTheDay hashtag.

As if the mounting anticipation surrounding Doctor Who’s 50th birthday needed a further injection of energy, the BBC has now unveiled a new outdoor ‘Social TARDIS’ digital campaign, where fans are encouraged to help build the TARDIS by sharing messages, pictures and videos via the #SaveTheDay hashtag.

Based at railway stations across the UK, the best creations from fans will be displayed on giant outdoor JCDecaux Transvision Screens.

The campaign is part of a wider effort to encourage fans to show their support for the Doctor and the special 50th anniversary episode, ‘The Day of the Doctor’, which is due to be airing on the 23rd November.

In addition to this latest outdoor promotion, The BBC has already launched an interactive Tardis website and fan powered social campaign, created by ZAG, to ensure fans are well and truly excited for the new episode.

According to The Drum, the campaign was created by Grand Visual using creative assets provided by Red Bee, and was booked by by MEC Manchester, Kinetic Manchester and Kinetic Fuel.

Dan Dawson, director of creative and technology at Grand Visual, commented: “This dynamic, fan-powered digital out of home campaign captures the excitement and anticipation of Doctor Who fans from around the world.

“The campaign supports the online strategy and is plugged into the all-important social channels encouraging audiences to show their support at #savetheday.”
