Another social media nomination craze has gone viral – thankfully this time it’s stripping off women’s make-up and raising funds for a cancer charity.
Women all over the UK have been posting ‘selfies’ of themselves nude of make-up onto social media sites and nominating others to do the same. Participants have also been donating a few pounds to Cancer Research UK as payment for their naked face.
The charity has raised over £2 million so far, with no signs of slowing.
Riding on the back of recent nomination fads, that used social media to spread around the world, the charity has received an “unprecedented” number of text donations throughout the day.
James Elliot, the charity’s head of digital engagement, said: “It’s great to see so many people getting involved and coming together to help raise money and awareness of cancer.
“Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in the UK and the public have shown how much they care by not only posting pictures, but also sharing information about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and making donations to help us fund life-saving research.
“[It] has only been made possible from the public getting behind this campaign. We’re really grateful for everyone’s support.”
If you want to raise awareness and help beat cancer text BEAT to 70099 to dontate £3 and get your face naked.
