Report: Twitter Hires First Vice President of Revenue

Twitter continues to build out its ad sales teams as it attempts to monetize its service.

As it continues to ramp up its monetization efforts, Twitter has reportedly hired its first president of revenue to oversee its commercial operations. According to TechCrunch, Adam Bain will fill the roll, vacating his current position as president of News Corp.-owned ad network, Fox Audience Network.

In addition, Google’s head of financial services for the Midwest region, Brent Hill, will also join Twitter, TechCrunch said, to oversee the company’s sales efforts in the same region. Spokespeople from both Twitter and News Corp would neither confirm nor deny the report when contacted by ClickZ.

Following the launch of some advertiser products earlier this year – including its promoted tweets and sponsored trending topics – Twitter has been tooling up its ad sales forces. Earlier this month it poached ad sales executives in the form of Dan Coughlin and Amanda Levy, the former joining from a role as director of media sales at social networking rival Facebook, and the latter leaving behind a West Coast sales role at Yelp.

“We’re putting together a top-flight sales team as we begin to open our Promoted Suite of products to more companies,” Dick Costolo, chief operating officer of Twitter said, commenting on those hires.

Twitter has been slowly rolling out that suite over the past few month, beginning with the introduction of promoted tweets in April, followed by promoted trending topics in June and its @earlybird deals and promotions account shortly after.
