A traffic-stopping giant octopus, a pruned Amazon rainforest and now a caged ‘traitor’ – British betting agencies continue their conversation-inducing World Cup marketing campaigns.

Paddy Power’s latest stunt caged a “traitor” named Tony who dared to bet against his home nation in favour of Italy to win on Saturday night’s game.
The billboard said: “Traitor Tony. Backed Italy with Paddy Power. And made a killing. It’s treason season.”
The campaign was a neat and extremely responsive idea created by Joe Bruce and Kate Baker at Crispin Porter & Bogusky.
The unique billboard encouraged passers-by to take a ‘selfie’ with the sign and post it to Twitter for a chance to win a £50 prize coupled with the #Brazilnuts hashtag.
The caged ‘traitor’ showcases Paddy Powers’ amusing strategy for attention grabbing stunts, which are born in the real world yet seem to organically evolve into the digital sphere through social media and the British public’s social lust for weird.
I think you’ll find the Octopus was Betfair….
Thanks for noticing the slip – I have amended it. Many thanks!
Doesn’t look at all like Tony Blair????
