A wildlife conservation campaign is engaging “young digital makers” through a unique Minecraft build, focusing on the challenges faced by iconic African wildlife today.
“We are the Rangers” is part of a project from United for Wildlife (UfW), an unprecedented alliance between seven of the world’s most influential conservation organisations and the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
The “epic charity build” aims to engage young people aged 15-30 to create a Minecraft adventure map based on the African Savannah and to use the fun, inspiring tools within Minecraft to get players involved in thinking about how to develop solutions.
The awareness-building campaign is open to everyone on any platform supported by Minecraft
“We Are The Rangers“, a continuation of UfW’s #WhoseSideAreYouOn campaign, is inviting submissions via the website until the 26th June.
Interesting entries will be selected to be part of the virtual and physical build days.
The campaign was developed by The Royal Foundation and ZSL, supported by the other members of the UfW collaboration.
“Minecraft and the Minecraft community are a great fit for United for Wildlife, and we hope that the young digital maker community feel that the conservation information is supplied in a fun way and they can take the idea and make it theirs as the project develops,” said Peter Jacobs, Digital Programme Manager, The Royal Foundation.
