Pinterest’s first beauty report shows search getting far more specific
Pinterest has published its first Beauty Trend Report, tracking how searches for hair, makeup, nails, fragrance and skincare have moved from broad categories to highly specific looks. The data gives retail and beauty marketers an early read on demand, plus a new Beauty Guides feature that links inspiration to products.
Pinterest released its first Beauty Trend Report on October 6. It compares text-based global searches from July 2025 with July 2026 and groups the results into 11 themes, each with a list of fast-growing queries. Pinterest’s headline finding is that specificity has become the new beauty currency.
Searches have moved to the details
The examples in the report show how narrow queries have become. Searches for “pink hair stripe” rose 463%, “textured French bob” 338%, and “polka dot cat eye nails” 1,585%.
Color and finish drive some of the biggest jumps. “Mocha balayage hair” is up 949%, “caramel nude nails” 943%, “soft copper blonde” 845% and “raspberry jelly nails” 828%. Pinterest reads the pattern as shoppers asking for fresh versions of familiar products, from salon color to nail finishes and fragrance profiles.

Beauty is spreading into food and wellness
The report also shows beauty searches crossing into neighboring categories. “Fragrance wardrobe” is up 210%, “body care routine aesthetic” 202%, “coffee perfume” 51% and “skin foods” 35%.
The “Farm to Face” theme includes “bone broth benefits for women” (+782%) and “rosemary water for hair” (+269%). Pinterest says this gives brands room to build routines, rituals and wider beauty worlds around these behaviors instead of single products.

What the survey numbers say
Pinterest says 85% of weekly users discovered new beauty trends or ideas on the platform before seeing them elsewhere. A further 64% say Pinterest is better for finding beauty trends that feel up to date. Both figures come from a Talk Shoppe survey that Pinterest commissioned in August 2025 among US weekly users with a beauty purchase in the past month.
Pinterest’s announcement also says 96% of top searches on the platform are unbranded. It frames that as a chance to reach people before they decide what to buy.
Beauty Guides link inspiration to products
Alongside the report, Pinterest launched Beauty Guides. Users open a hair or nail Pin in Closeup and tap “Get the Guide” for a breakdown of the look, similar inspiration and shoppable products. The feature is available to iOS users in the US, with a wider rollout over the coming weeks.
Pinterest Intelligence powers the trend read
Pinterest says its ability to identify emerging beauty trends is powered by Pinterest Intelligence. The system combines visual understanding with signals such as searches, saves, Boards, Collages and clicks. For brands, Pinterest says this offers deeper insight into emerging trends and shopping intent.
